Harold M. Long collection, 1776-1994 (bulk 1970-1973)

The principal documentary material in the Harold M. Long Collection consists of two loose-leaf volumes that record Harold Long's service as a public library trustee. One volume concerns his service on the Board of Trustees of Crandall Public Library from 1970 to 1973, and a second volume pertains to his work on the Board of Trustees of the Southern Adirondack Library System (SALS) from 1972 to 1973.

Collecting of photographs by Crandall Library evidently began through the efforts of Sherman Williams, who was a founder of the New York State Historical Association and an advisor to Henry Crandall. Photographs may have been collected beginning with or near the founding of Crandall Library in 1892. Others who were influential in developing this collection were Robert C. Carter and Arthur S. Harold M. Long was a social studies teacher for many years at Glens Falls High School.
